Gerald Nochumsohn

Director

Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer

I started my career in 1985 at Nathanson Bowman and Nathan, where I served as a partner for 15 years. Thereafter, I practiced at Nochumsohns Attorneys for 5 years, followed by the next 20 years where I spearheaded the commercial, matrimonial, litigation, and estate departments at Nochumsohn Teper Attorneys (also known as N&T Inc). Having seen some 13 candidate attorneys through their articles, many of whom hold leading positions, I am privileged to have partnered with Madeleine Pretorius, who rose through the ranks of N&T Attorneys, working beside me. I have a special interest in civil litigation and act for some of the country’s most prestigious multinational corporations. My experience covers a very wide sphere of litigation, with the emphasis on contractual, delictual and property related disputes. I regularly serve as an Acting Judge at both the Johannesburg and Pretoria High Courts. My experience gained as an acting judge has enabled me to serve as an arbitrator in all civil disputes. Having been in practice for the past 40 years, I have honed my skills in commercial drafting, which has enabled me to offer a wide variety of services in the commercial sector. I have administered countless deceased estates, in many of which I have acted in the capacity as executor. I serve on, and frequently chair, the disciplinary committee of the Legal Practice Council and can undertake any mandate.
